A Colwood neighbour
with a stake in our future

I live in Royal Bay with my wife and two children, who are growing up here right now β€” my stake in Colwood's future is personal and immediate.

Having made the decision with my wife to move to the Island and plant our roots here, I know what it means to families to build a new life in a new community. This shapes how I think about inclusive, affordable growth, and why it matters to every family in Colwood.

Working as a public servant now, I know how government decisions get made, and how to hold decision-makers accountable. Previously, I've served as Chief of Staff to two former Ministers of Energy in British Columbia (B.C.), and worked as a senior advisor at BC Hydro. I also hold a Master of Public Administration degree in Energy and Environment from Columbia University in the City of New York, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, with a minor in Urban and Regional Studies, from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

My board experience with several charitable non-profit organizations gives me real insight into what it looks like to deliver housing, health, and other services that we all depend on. This includes:

  • Board Director, Pacific Centre Family Services Association, which provides professional counselling, primary health care, and social programs for children, youth, adults, and families across the Westshore, Sooke, and Greater Victoria
  • Board Director, S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation, which raises funds to support S.U.C.C.E.S.S., one of the largest non-profit social service agencies in Canada, promoting the wellbeing of newcomers, seniors, and the broader community
  • Board Director, Progressive Housing Society, which provides emergency shelters, supportive housing, and mental health support services for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness

My passion for the protection of our environment, and my belief that our city can be a leader in the energy transition, stem from my volunteerism and past education. When I was in high school, I volunteered as a Green Ambassador, where I grew up, to promote recycling and sustainability leading up to the 2010 Winter Olympics. This program later became a permanent youth program and now acts as the umbrella network and city-wide coordinator for individual high school "Green Teams."

I now volunteer with Friends of Colwood Parks, removing invasive species from the parks that we all enjoy, and with PICK Colwood, helping keep Colwood litter-free.

I'd like to bring my experience, service, and perspective as someone with a young family to Colwood Council, and I would be honoured to earn your support.

Priorities for a growing Colwood

01

Sustainable Growth

  • Housing choices for every stage of life β€” seniors, families, first-time owners, and renters β€” as well as community input into major developments
  • Improved road infrastructure, better public transit, and transportation choices for a growing city to reduce traffic impacts and congestion
  • Expansion of parks, playgrounds, trails, green spaces, and other community amenities to keep pace with population growth
  • Protection of the environment, natural areas, shoreline habitat, and urban tree canopy to safeguard Colwood's diversity for future generations
02

Services We Can Count On

  • More access to primary care and community health services
  • Expansion of childcare access and community services for families and seniors
  • Additional school capacity by working with our school district and trustees and advocating for more investment in education
  • Expanded programming for youth, families, and seniors, as well as additional community centres and other community amenities where needed
03

Safe, Connected Community

  • Smart, fiscally responsible investment in public safety
  • A safe and accessible multi-use waterfront
  • Traffic calming measures β€” including speed bumps and crosswalk improvements β€” near schools, parks, and playgrounds to keep families safe
  • Support for local arts and culture, including public art in new developments and community spaces
